About The Position

Requirements

• Associate’s degree and four years of professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience, are listed as preferred; alternatively, a minimum of five years of management experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Knowledge of carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs, and plumbing.
• Familiarity with electrical processes, including techniques, code requirements, regulations, and materials.
• Familiarity with common building and construction methods.
• Knowledge of contact management systems, database systems such as SPC and Shop Floor System, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
• Working knowledge of the company timekeeping system, such as KRONOS.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and calculations using units of weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions and apply knowledge and understanding.
• Evidence of “US person” status is required under ITAR.
• Maintain either no facial hair or a NIOSH-approved beard as specified under the referenced Cal/OSHA regulation and pass an annual respirator fit test.
• Demonstrate analytical, technical, oral communication, teamwork, business acumen, cost consciousness, adaptability, planning and organizing, and professionalism competencies.
• Meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods; manual dexterity and coordination; reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds.
• Use required personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear, in specified areas.

Responsibilities

• Supervise janitorial, building maintenance, and machine maintenance personnel; schedule and assign daily work and monitor materials, quality, production, and timely completion.
• Coordinate building maintenance and repairs, and determine construction methods while ensuring applicable building code requirements are met.
• With management assistance, determine whether projects will be completed in-house or by outside vendors.
• Troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate actions.
• Discipline employees for safety violations or improper work and conduct performance appraisals.
• Maintain the existing maintenance software system.
• Champion safety programs and ensure assigned staff receive appropriate health, safety, and environmental training; enforce Lock Out/Tag Out and other safety procedures.
• Coordinate machine repairs, moves, and new installations with production supervisors.
• Maintain wastewater treatment and HAZMAT programs and stay updated on federal and state regulations.
• Issue and complete requisitions for tools, equipment, and supplies; maintain accountability for parts and tools inventory.
• Schedule maintenance personnel efficiently and estimate work hours and supplies needed for assignments.
• Ensure people within the assigned area, and those affected by its equipment or processes, comply with government regulations and company policies, procedures, and plans.
• Attend required training, follow HSE procedures and safe operating practices, meet reporting requirements, and report suspected nonconformance to management promptly.
• Seek opportunities to improve HSE performance by setting objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
• Oversee electricians, maintenance mechanics, and general maintenance employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and problems.
• Ensure procedures, instructions, and HSE guidelines are followed and kept updated; maintain employee skills and ensure equipment is in safe condition.
• Identify and address HSE risks, support emergency response with OHS and first-response team members, and communicate HSE matters within the teams.
