About The Position

The RN House Supervisor coordinates and directs safe, efficient patient care and throughput throughout the hospital and serves as a communication link among the emergency department, patient registration, Licensed Independent Practitioners, and nursing units. The role serves as a clinical resource for direct and indirect care processes, provides leadership and direction during hospital codes and emergency management, and acts for department and hospital executives in their absence. Concerns and events are reported to the designated administrator on call. The supervisor makes rounds on hospital units and participates in patient care as needed, including starting IVs, patient transport, and admission and discharge procedures. The position manages clinical aspects of patient transfers, responds to STAT calls and in-house emergency codes, supports Code Blue and RRT coordination in the absence of a physician, and collaborates with staffing and nursing leaders to support adequate unit staffing. It also contributes to developing processes and standards for quality patient care and maintains skills through ongoing education and meeting attendance. The schedule varies between 0700–1900 and 1900–0700.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within two years of hire or transfer to the role.
Two years of clinical RN experience.
RN license to practice in the state of employment, as applicable.

One year of clinical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and direct safe, efficient patient care and throughput throughout the hospital.
Serve as a communication link between the emergency department, patient registration, Licensed Independent Practitioners, and nursing units.
Serve as a clinical resource for direct and indirect care processes.
Provide competent leadership and direction for hospital codes and emergency management.
Act as an agent for department and hospital executives in their absence, reporting concerns and events to the designated administrator on call.
Make rounds on units and participate in patient care as needed, including starting IVs, patient transport, and admission and discharge procedures.
Manage clinical aspects of patient transfers, including assessing stability and need for transfer and arranging facilities and medical coverage.
Respond to all STAT calls and in-house emergency codes.
Support direction and coordination of Code Blue and RRT in the absence of a physician.
Serve as a role model for patient care staff in emergency situations.
Collaborate with the staffing coordinator, nurse managers, and other leaders to ensure adequate staffing in nursing units.
Facilitate development of processes and standards that ensure quality patient care.
Maintain a high skill level through ongoing education and meeting attendance.
