Fire Extinguisher Service & Sales Representative

About The Position

Gutridge is a leading construction and service company offering Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, and Electrical services to customers in the greater central Ohio marketplace. As a Fire Extinguisher Service & Sales Representative, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing fire extinguishers, emergency and exit lighting, and kitchen hood suppression systems. This role also includes identifying customer needs, recommending fire protection solutions, maintaining accurate service documentation, and delivering professional customer service during all inspections and service calls.

Requirements

  • State of Ohio Fire Extinguisher and Pre-Engineered System certifications preferred.
  • 1–3 years of fire life safety industry experience, including extinguishers, emergency/exit lighting, and kitchen hood suppression systems.
  • Previous route sales, service, or customer-facing sales experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends for emergency service calls as needed.
  • Must be able to pass background and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and service fire extinguishers, exit and emergency lighting, and pre-engineered kitchen hood suppression systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain fire protection equipment and system deficiencies.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding inspections, repairs, and recommended services.
  • Prepare accurate and timely inspection and service reports.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Schedule Coordinator regarding service and inspection calls.
  • Identify opportunities to recommend and sell fire extinguishers, exit signs, emergency lighting, and related services.
  • Develop new business through cold calling and customer outreach.
  • Evaluate customer facilities for additional fire protection equipment and service needs.
  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA standards and local fire safety regulations.
  • Work safely and comfortably at heights, on ladders or lifts, and in confined spaces.
  • Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with customers and team members.
