About The Position

The Director of Housekeeping is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations within a hospitality or residential facility across the United States. This role ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction are consistently met through effective management of staff, resources, and processes. The Director will develop and implement strategic plans to optimize operational efficiency, maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, and enhance the overall guest experience. They will collaborate closely with other department heads to align housekeeping objectives with broader organizational goals. Ultimately, the Director of Housekeeping plays a critical role in upholding the reputation and quality standards of the establishment by leading a motivated and well-trained housekeeping team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in housekeeping management within the hospitality industry.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing large teams and multiple housekeeping operations.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and sanitation standards.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, inventory management, and scheduling software.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in hospitality or facility management (e.g., CHA, CHFM).
  • Experience working in luxury hotels, resorts, or large-scale residential complexes.
  • Advanced knowledge of health and safety regulations and sustainability practices in housekeeping.
  • Proficiency with property management systems (PMS) and housekeeping management software.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing green cleaning initiatives or other environmental programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and supervise housekeeping staff to maintain exceptional cleanliness and service standards throughout the facility.
  • Develop and implement housekeeping policies, procedures, and schedules to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Manage budgeting, inventory control, and procurement of cleaning supplies and equipment to optimize cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to coordinate activities and resolve any guest service issues related to housekeeping.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain qualified housekeeping personnel while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Analyze operational data and guest feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to housekeeping and workplace safety.
