About The Position

Eaton Corporation is seeking a Quality Supervisor for their facility in Sumter, SC. This role is responsible for leading the inspection team to ensure product quality meets customer requirements and expectations. The supervisor will monitor quality metrics, manage the inspection team, collect and analyze quality data, and coordinate with operations to address quality-related issues. The position involves performing root cause analysis, supporting continuous improvement efforts, establishing data collection plans, and implementing error-proofing solutions to reduce costs. The role also supports the deployment of Eaton's Quality Management System (EQMS)/ISO9001, Eaton Lean System (ELS), and MESH. The Quality Supervisor will serve as an Internal Systems Auditor, participate in PROLaunch projects, interact with suppliers, and provide coaching and development to team members to achieve continuous improvement objectives. Additionally, the supervisor will guide 8D Teams and corrective action activities, use data analysis software, lead the Quality Council, and conduct root cause investigations. Customer interaction, both on-site and at customer locations, is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience in working in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): PC and related software (Microsoft Office or AutoCAD).
  • Two (2) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): EQS and problem-solving tools.
  • One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Experience in a Quality function.
  • One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Managing people or project teams.
  • One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Utilizing Minitab software to perform capability studies on equipment and processes.
  • One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Tools.
  • One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Arena Simulation or Minitab.
  • One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): MAPICS, AS400 and VISTA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the inspection team to ensure product meets customer's requirements and/or exceed the customer's expectations.
  • Monitor and report on metrics related to Production Quality performance.
  • Manage inspection team including but not limited to overtime, vacation scheduling, and delegation of work between both plant and all inspection processes.
  • Collect and input Quality Inspection Data into databases and other software as appropriate for reporting and data analysis.
  • Coordinate with operations in responding to unusual situations, changes, material shortages, and varying quality requirements.
  • Ensure quality inspectors are properly trained and are conducting inspections according to current requirements and documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support problem solving and continuous improvement efforts by bringing attention to quality problems, participating improvement teams, and working with front end, design, quality and production personnel to resolve problems.
  • Establish and improve data collection plans as well as tools and processes.
  • Evaluate data to identify key detractors of Scrap, Rework, and Warranty and then implement Error Proofing solutions to achieve reduced CONC costs.
  • Support deployment of Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS)/ISO9001, Eaton Lean System (ELS) and MESH.
  • Serve as an Internal Systems Auditor performing process and systems audits on a regular basis.
  • Participate in PROLaunch projects representing the Quality Team.
  • Interact with internal and external suppliers as required based on quality performance.
  • Supervise Quality Team Members by providing coaching and development to ensure continuous improvement objectives are achieved resulting in improved process and product quality.
  • Guide 8D Teams and corrective action activities.
  • Use data analysis software (i.e. Excel, Access and Minitab).
  • Lead the Quality Council and work with Operations and Quality Team to identity improvement projects related to customer satisfaction, rework, scrap, and overall quality.
  • Conduct root cause investigation and train plant team members on processes related to quality tools/processes.
  • Interact with customers on-site (in plant and at customer locations) to facilitate understanding of production and quality-related processes and results.
