Social Media Manager

Onni Group of CompaniesVancouver, BC
Hybrid

About The Position

This role is for a Social Media Manager at Onni Capital, a company that is building a portfolio of brands. Unlike typical social roles, this position involves managing multiple brands, each with its own audience and voice. The company offers a strong content pipeline, including a podcast, video series, and access to unique locations. Success will be measured by business outcomes like inbound deal flow and event attendance, rather than vanity metrics. The role is early-stage, allowing the individual to shape the brand's voice. Onni Capital operates with high ownership and low bureaucracy, encouraging team members to challenge assumptions, take responsibility, use AI tools, share work early, and be comfortable with ambiguity. This is ideal for someone who learns quickly, takes initiative, and enjoys building something from the ground up, rather than someone seeking a rigid job description or extensive consensus-building.

Requirements

  • Two or more years running social media professionally, with accounts and results that can be explained.
  • Genuine platform fluency across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X, including understanding of platform-specific performance.
  • Strong short form video editing capability to turn raw footage into engaging content.
  • Excellent copywriting skills: short, clear, and with a point of view.
  • Demonstrated ability to use modern AI tools for content creation, research, and workflow.
  • Comfort managing multiple brands and voices simultaneously without blurring them.
  • Analytical instinct to understand performance, form hypotheses, and adjust strategy.
  • Strong organization and reliability to maintain a content calendar.
  • Judgment about what a business should and should not say publicly.
  • Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team where priorities shift.
  • High personal standards for quality, ownership, and follow through.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with business to business social, particularly in financial services, professional services, or an industrial sector.
  • Experience running social for multiple clients, in an agency or in-house.
  • Photography, design, or motion graphics capability.
  • Experience with paid social campaigns.
  • Experience supporting a brand launch.
  • Experience with creator and influencer partnerships.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Claude, Linear, Slack, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire, rename, and build out Onni Capital's social handles across every relevant platform.
  • Execute the social side of the brand launch, coordinated with the website, press, and fund announcement.
  • Own the content calendar across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and X, adapted to what each platform actually rewards.
  • Turn long form material into short form content (e.g., clips and posts from podcast episodes, video series, and events).
  • Write copy that sounds like a person rather than a corporate account.
  • Publish and amplify deal and investment announcements, portfolio milestones, and hiring campaigns.
  • Manage community and engagement, including responding, monitoring mentions, and flagging items needing senior attention.
  • Run social for portfolio companies that purchase marketing services, each with its own audience, voice, and calendar.
  • Build channel strategies for businesses in construction, industrial services, technology, and data centres.
  • Report on performance per client, and connect activity to pipeline where data allows.
  • Support influencer and affiliate partnerships, including creator coordination and amplification of creator content.
  • Support the events programme, including promotion, live coverage, and post event content.
  • Support recruiting campaigns.
  • Use modern AI tools for content production, research, scheduling, and analysis.
  • Track and report on reach, engagement, follower growth, and inbound generated, with an honest view of what is working and what is not.
  • Document what works so the approach is repeatable across brands.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Discretionary performance bonus
  • Comprehensive company paid benefits package
  • Annual education and professional development allowance
  • Regular product demonstrations, founder sessions, investment discussions, and team events
  • Free access to a fully equipped gym
  • Friends and family rates across participating hospitality brands
