About The Position

Florida Eye Specialists is a top provider in eye care for the greater Jacksonville area and is the preferred provider for the Jacksonville Jaguars! There are several locations in and around Jacksonville and we are growing every day! The physicians and staff of Florida Eye Specialists are united by a common passion for excellence in eye care. All our doctors have dedicated numerous years of medical school, residency, fellowship and post-fellowship training to eye-disease research and education. The Physician Liaison will be responsible to actively recruit and assist optometrists, primary care physicians and businesses interested in working with and partnering with Florida Eye Specialists. The Liaison must be committed to this vision and be a tenacious self-starter with the ability to plan and act strategically. The Liaison will build relationships with prospective optometrists, primary care physicians and businesses with the end of developing a working relationship. The Physician Liaison will be trained on general ophthalmology, the co-management role with optometrist and the process of acquiring and maintaining relationships with primary care physicians. The Liaison will report to the Marketing Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking and planning to fulfill the Florida Eye Specialists vision with day-to-day objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build solid relationships and support among stakeholders, listen and provide assistance.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of people and positions, including doctors, office managers, technicians and front desk staff.
  • Experience in one or more of: ophthalmology/healthcare, sales, marketing, public relations.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communications skills.
  • Coalition-building skills, including the ability to motivate, negotiate, and persuade referring doctors into a course of action.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5-7 years customer service experience, healthcare field preferred
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds and/or standing and/or walking an average of four (4) hours per day.
  • Strong work ethic, independent, self-starter, detail-oriented
  • Tenacious and positive, with a “can do” attitude
  • Ability to take action quickly and think strategically
  • Outgoing, friendly personality
  • Creative, with innovative implementation skills and solid problem-solving capability
  • Committed to Jacksonville, Florida and the region and already well-networked is a plus.
  • Must be willing to have meetings outside of regular business hours and travel throughout the region.
  • This role requires extensive traveling on a daily basis. Must have a clear MVR and dependable transportation with the ability to use a company provided GPS tracker to report mileage for monthly reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for and build relationships with optometrists, primary care physicians, endocrinologists, urgent cares, etc. while maintain accounts as needed.
  • Establish rapport with local businesses and organizations that may serve as indirect referring partners.
  • Maintain databases/book of business of optometrists, primary care physicians, local businesses and non-profit organizations.
  • Stay up to date on all events, community affairs, competitors and industry trends in the local market.
  • Gather and update pertinent data regarding patient referrals to report back to department.
  • Understand the co-management processes, secure new co-managing accounts and guide new optometrists through implementation process.
  • Act as a business developer between optometrists, primary care physicians and businesses with helping generating new working/referring patterns.
  • Attend events as representative of FES. This includes if applicable, research, set up, working and breakdown of booth at health fairs, trade shows, expos, 5ks or other community events.
  • Maintain accurate stock of Marketing materials for on field visits, presentations, etc.
  • Create New Referral reports monthly to present to Marketing Manager along with strategies on overcoming challenges and opportunities in the market.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
