About The Position

Work under the general direction of a human resources (HR) manager to support HR programs and policies. Administer activities related to, but not limited to, recruiting and staffing, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee relations, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity compliance, and possibly safety or other related areas. Complete personnel transactions and maintain associated records. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service when addressing employee and leadership team questions and inquiries. Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to HR manager.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 2 to 5 years of progressive generalist Human Resources experience
  • Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, and practices
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with federal, state, and local HR and payroll requirements
  • Able to interpret and apply company policies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems
  • Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Able to multi-task and problem solve
  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work a schedule that (may) support a 24/7 operations team
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

Nice To Haves

  • Human Resources certifications preferred (e.g., SHRM, HRCI)

Responsibilities

  • Administer the recruitment process for non-exempt and/or exempt positions, including coordinating requisitions, job postings, applicant correspondence, interview schedules, offer letters, background checks, and new employee onboarding.
  • Work with hiring managers to recruit and select candidates by reviewing resumes, designing interview questions, conducting phone screens, and assisting with interviews.
  • Manage the onboarding process to ensure new employees have a positive experience and are set up for success.
  • Process payroll for employees, ensuring understanding and application of wage and labor laws, and maintaining payroll records.
  • Provide administrative support for employee records, including processing status change transactions.
  • Assist in preparing EEO/AAP reporting documents and generating HR reports.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate information on benefits enrollment, assist in coordinating wellness initiatives, and field employee benefits questions. Administer paperwork and coordinate FMLA and STD programs.
  • Work with employees on Leave of Absence (LOA) processes, manage employee leaves, and communicate leave status to leadership.
  • Coordinate employee communication regarding human resources programs and announcements to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Ensure corporate initiatives reach the location, coordinate with leadership, and provide guidance for implementation.
  • Provide advice, feedback, and resources to managers and employees regarding HR policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance and support company guidelines, employment law, and company culture.
  • Perform learning management system (DairyU) administration, including managing HRIS data uploads, record keeping, training attendance, course assignments, tracking completion, and running reports.
  • Process HR-related invoices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive HR information.
  • Participate in special projects in areas such as performance management, onboarding, compensation, and training and development.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist in process development and implementation.
