About The Position

At U.S. Bank, the Mortgage Branch Manager assists the Mortgage Retail Regional Manager in leading and managing Mortgage Loan Originators to achieve production goals, operational excellence, growth, and profitability within the region. The role also involves maintaining a personal pipeline of retail mortgage loans. Key responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, training, and retaining talent, as well as managing performance. The manager is expected to actively participate in local and state mortgage banking, realtor, and builder trade associations, maintaining a thorough understanding of industry knowledge. Communication of business goals and company performance to staff, promoting sales through training and coaching, and creating marketing materials are also part of the role. The position acts as a liaison between U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and other departments, establishing collaborative partnerships across business lines. This role requires National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration, including criminal background and credit checks. It is a multi-level position, with candidates hired based on their experience, requiring a minimum of one year of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience. While primarily remote, candidates near a U.S. Bank location are expected to work onsite three or more days per week, and the position requires 2 or more hours of driving per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Two or more years of experience as a Retail Mortgage Loan Originator
  • National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z
  • Subject to the required registration process, which includes a criminal background and credit check

Responsibilities

  • Assists Mortgage Retail Regional Manager in the leadership and management of Mortgage Loan Originators to achieve production goals, operational excellence, growth and profitability of the region
  • Maintains a personal pipeline of retail mortgage loans
  • Recruits, interviews and trains elite talent, as well as be pro-active in retaining current employees and managing performance
  • Actively participates in local and state mortgage banking, realtor, and builder trade associations, and maintains a thorough understanding of mortgage industry knowledge and current issues
  • Communicate business goals, objectives and company performance results to staff
  • Promote an effective sales environment through sales training, individual and team coaching, and in the creation of marketing materials
  • Act as liaison between U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and other departments/areas of the company
  • Establishes collaborative partnerships with other business lines within U.S. Bank
