About The Position

The Credit Manager is responsible for coordinating and underwriting Commercial, C&I, SBA, Real Estate Lending, Consumer, and Commercial Equipment Leasing transactions. This role ensures adherence to all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations. The position requires a strong understanding of GLBA, Regulation Z, Regulation DD, Regulation B, Dodd-Frank Act, Elder Abuse Laws, Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and Community Reinvestment Act.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or 10 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth background in Commercial, C&I, or SBA compliance and supervisory skills.
  • Applicable educational experience through in-house training, formal schooling, or financial industry-related curriculum.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge, and training in progressively responsible Company administration, management, and supervisory activities.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge, and training in all Commercial, C&I, or SBA operational and lending activities and terminology.
  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, Company operational policies and procedures, and the Company’s products and services.
  • Proven ability to effectively train and instruct others in a formal classroom or one-on-one environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to provide leadership, supervision, and training for 10 or more employees using positive supervisory techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.
  • Some knowledge of human resource and labor laws and policies.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Able to make conclusive recommendations and decisions based on independent analysis.
  • Intermediate math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent, including drafting and interpreting bar graphs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan department or Company activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department or Company activities; effectively staff (selecting, training, and developing employees); directing employees towards desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems); controlling the function (developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action, and rewarding employees as appropriate).
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises credit officers, credit analysts, and support staff in the underwriting of SBA or commercial loans.
  • Reviews and recommends appropriate loan structures based on credit and borrower information to determine loan eligibility.
  • Conducts site visits, meetings, and interviews with borrowers.
  • Performs financial and repayment analysis focusing on cash flow, liquidity, leverage, and debt service coverage, including global DSC analysis, to assess a borrower’s repayment ability.
  • Makes recommendations for loan approval or non-approval.
  • Attends, prepares, and presents new and additional credit proposals in loan committee meetings.
  • Performs thorough analysis of combined DSCR for underwriting of guarantors.
  • Reviews all third-party reports, appraisals, environmental assessments, title reports, and property condition assessments to ensure adherence to the Bank’s loan policies and procedures.
  • Reviews legal documents, appraisals, environmental reports, and other relevant reports.
  • Prepares credit approval memos in compliance with Bank policy and procedures.
  • Provides direct support to management to develop and analyze relevant credit information in conjunction with account officers for complex commercial and business loans.
  • Provides leadership, training, and supervision to team members on Company’s lending guidelines and regulations.
  • Processes, solves, and answers complex customer transactions, problems, or inquiries.
  • Reviews and corrects credit memorandums prepared by team members.
  • Applies decision-making techniques for inquiries, approvals, and requests within assigned approval limits, using these instances for employee development.
  • Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates; supervises daily team activities, including delegation of assignments, developing work schedules, and providing training.
  • Ensures adherence to the Bank’s loan policies and procedures.
  • Plays a positive role in the development and growth of assigned department staff through excellent communication and delegation skills, ensuring a highly cross-trained staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for various job duties in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
  • Follows policies and procedures, completes tasks correctly and on time, and supports the Bank’s goals and values.
