About The Position
Gordon Food Service Store LLC is hiring a Van Delivery Driver for its Clinton Township, Michigan location. The role is responsible for courteous, accurate, and on-time product deliveries along a variable daily route. The driver operates the van professionally and safely, with careful attention to detail and safe work habits, and may assist with store operations before or after completing the route. Delivery duties include locating and picking wholesale customer orders in-store, maintaining good customer relationships, completing deliveries accurately and on time, and conducting daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment. Store duties include processing customer purchases at the point of sale, protecting cash, checks, and merchandise according to policy, and receiving and merchandising products. Merchandising work includes product rotation and quality checks, end-cap and planogram execution, top-stock maintenance, and freezer, cooler, and backroom organization. The position requires at least 18 years of age, an unrestricted Standard Operator’s License, a clean driving record with no drug- or alcohol-related offenses in the last five years, and successful completion of pre-employment checks, including a drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle report. Candidates must be able to use a two-wheel cart carrying up to 350 pounds and lift up to 70 pounds. At least one year of delivery driving experience and one year in customer service or a related field are preferred.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Unrestricted Standard Operator’s License required.
- Must have a clean driving record, with no drug- or alcohol-related offenses in the last five years.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle report.
- Must be able to use a two-wheel cart with a load weighing up to 350 pounds.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of previous delivery driving experience.
- One year of customer service experience or experience in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Locate and pick wholesale customer orders in-store accurately.
- Deliver Gordon Food Service products accurately and on time along a variable daily route.
- Build and maintain good customer relationships.
- Operate the van professionally and safely, using safe work habits and attention to detail.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment.
- Assist with store operations before or after completing the delivery route.
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently through the point of sale.
- Protect cash, checks, and merchandise by following security policies and procedures.
- Receive and merchandise products accurately, including product rotation and quality checks, end-cap and planogram execution, top-stock maintenance, and freezer, cooler, and backroom organization.
