About The Position

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to work both morning and afternoon routes as scheduled.
• Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated, a satisfactory driving record, and eligibility for insurance coverage.
• At least three years of previous safe driving experience.
• Excellent integrity, good moral character, and initiative.
• Interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administrators, parents, corporate partners, and the community.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Good judgment, reliability, and the qualifications and communication skills necessary to perform the duties and comply with applicable federal, state, and local driver regulations.
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
• Flexibility and adaptability as Corporate Work Study Program operations develop.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Cristo Rey Jesuit Corporate Work Study Program.
• Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body.
• Desire to work with high school students.
• Ability to work in a faith-based organization.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Transport students from school to work placements in the morning and from work placements to school in the afternoon, as well as to other events, activities, and destinations.
• Maintain a welcoming, orderly, appropriate, and professional environment in the van.
• Remain in charge of the van and report unmanageable student behavior to the Director of the Corporate Work Study Program and the principal using the incident/discipline form.
• Confirm students reach the correct work-placement location by watching them enter the building.
• Follow safety rules when loading and unloading students and assist students into or out of vehicles as needed.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections, including checking gas, battery, oil, and water.
• Check and clean vans and perform minor servicing.
• Drive assigned routes and identify stops before the first day of service, without students aboard.
• Prepare simple reports and maintain trip logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Corporate Work Study Program or a designee.
