About The Position

The Van Driver transports participants around the community and to medical and other outside appointments as needed. The role includes helping participants get to and from the van, maintaining the vehicle, reporting incidents, and supporting day care center activities and other duties as requested. The position may involve wearing a face mask where a tight respirator seal is critical; facial hair may need to be limited so it does not interfere with the seal.

Requirements

• Valid state Driver’s License from the state of residence.
• Minimum 5 years of safe driving experience.
• Ability to pass a DOT Physical and DOT-mandated driver training.
• Ability to become CPR certified.
• Ability to physically move and maneuver participants in a wheelchair.
• Ability to push patients in a wheelchair.
• Ability to lift participants in emergency situations.
• Responsible, flexible team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass a fit test; duties may require wearing a face mask where a seal is critical, and facial hair must not interfere with a tight respirator seal.

Responsibilities

• Transport participants around the community and to and from medical and other outside appointments as necessary.
• Assist participants to and from the van for pickups and drop-offs.
• Use preventative measures to maintain the interior and exterior of vehicles consistently and ensure safe transportation.
• Immediately notify the Director of unusual incidents, client injuries, client falls, or accidents.
• Work with the Supervisor of Drivers to identify the specific needs of each participant.
• Remove snow around the vans during winter months to support client safety and safe van operation.
• Assist Day Care Center Staff with local activities and other duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested.
