About The Position

The General Merchandise Sales Executive Team Leader role is responsible for driving total store sales and ensuring a consistent guest experience by managing operations, process, and efficiency within the General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This includes overseeing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing. The role also involves leading the Food & Beverage and Food Service teams, ensuring a fresh and food-safe experience, and managing pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work for efficient guest delivery. Target believes in providing meaningful experiences for team members to build and develop skills for a career, and this role offers knowledge of guest service fundamentals, retail business fundamentals, and experience in setting and planning department workloads, managing teams to achieve sales goals, understanding the competition, and recruiting and managing hourly team members and leaders.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand the impact of departments and team on total store profitability.
  • Manage a team executing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas.
  • Manage a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work to enable efficient guest delivery.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead the team to prioritize guest experience and achieve store sales goals.
  • Develop strategy and utilize workload planning tools to complete scheduled workload, ensuring guest readiness.
  • Create a scheduling plan based on monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic, in partnership with team leaders.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with the team to ensure task and workload completion.
  • Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting to identify gaps, and develop resolution plans.
  • Oversee Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for all GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently, meeting guest promise times.
  • Assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice.
  • Plan, manage, and follow up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Develop and coach Team Leaders to elevate the skills and expertise of the team.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit for both long and short-term needs.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and hold others accountable.
  • Act as a key carrier, following all safe and secure training and processes.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
