About The Position

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent field experience may substitute (2 years for an Associate’s degree or 4 years for a Bachelor’s degree).
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in high-voltage electrical testing and commissioning, with supervisory and project management capability.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning, including protective relay testing, power apparatus and circuit breaker testing, cable testing, station auxiliary systems, and full system commissioning.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and revenue performance.
• Experience managing field crews, planning resources, and developing a workforce.
• Strong understanding of project financials, including revenue recognition, cost tracking, and margin management.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, schematics, one-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and protection schemes.
• Strong technical report review skills and ability to approve comprehensive commissioning documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present to clients, project leadership, and executive management.
• Mathematical proficiency through trigonometry.
• Thorough knowledge of safety and health regulations applicable to high-voltage electrical work, including NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor for client-facing, program-level interactions.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8–12 hours; climb stairs and ladders and access elevated work areas; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds; bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces; work near energized electrical equipment; wear required PPE; and operate company vehicles safely.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and in environments with electrical hazards, arc flash exposure, noise, dust, vibration, and industrial job-site conditions.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Doble, Megger, Omicron, or similar test equipment platforms.
• Prior experience in electric utility transmission and distribution construction or industrial commissioning environments.
• Experience with SCADA systems, power line carrier, infrared thermography, and phasing and loading verification.
• Project management training or certification, such as PMP or CAPM.
• Experience with project financial management and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage multiple concurrent Field Service projects, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Monitor assigned project revenue, profitability, and financials, and take corrective action to protect margins.
• Plan and allocate field crew resources, equipment, and materials across projects.
• Represent the company and Field Services in client meetings and maintain program-level client communication and satisfaction.
• Provide technical direction, training, and performance feedback to field staff; support hiring and workforce development.
• Enforce company safety, quality, operational policies, and procedures on assigned projects.
• Perform QA/QC oversight and ensure testing and commissioning deliverables meet internal standards and client specifications.
• Lead Job Safety Task Analyses, safety briefings, and stand-down meetings; investigate and report incidents, near-misses, and safety observations.
• Review project scope and lead kickoff meetings to communicate scope, schedule, safety requirements, and technical expectations to crews and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering, and clients to resolve technical issues, manage scope changes, and maintain project progress.
• Review and approve test reports, commissioning documentation, and other quality deliverables.
• Perform electrical testing and commissioning as required, including protective relay, power apparatus, and station auxiliary system testing.
• Direct testing and commissioning of transformers, current transformers, potential transformers, medium- and high-voltage circuit breakers, and switchgear assemblies.
• Direct testing, commissioning, and maintenance of low-voltage AC/DC station auxiliary systems, including batteries, chargers, inverters, distribution panels, and voltage regulation controls.
• Support proposal and estimating teams with technical input on testing scope, crew requirements, project durations, and equipment needs.
• Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
