About The Position

The Patient Care Administrative Nurse Supervisor is an experienced Registered Nurse and is responsible for supervising and monitoring the Nursing department(s) on an assigned shift in accordance with nursing standards and practices as well as current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations. This position ensures the appropriate delivery of direct and indirect patient care via the utilization of the Nursing Process and creates a positive environment for the professional practice of nursing. In addition, this position ensures activities foster continuous quality improvement to enhance patient care outcomes. This position also ensures patient flow throughout the organization. This position provides leadership for multiple hospital departments in the absence of the unit manager, director, or administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
  • 3 years of acute care charge or supervisory experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse license from the State of Connecticut required
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) provider credentialed form the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Broad knowledge of nursing standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing and healthcare administration.
  • Considerable knowledge of requirements by federal, state or regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective workforce utilization.
  • Strong ability to coordinate, plan and direct multi-faceted operation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers, other agencies and the public.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
  • Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
  • Strong ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment.
  • Strong ability to problem solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment and in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and organization/time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing incumbents as of 3/1/24 must obtain BSN within 3 years of this date
  • Critical care or emergency department nursing experience may be required in acute care environments
  • Progressive leadership experience
  • Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider credentialed form the American Heart Association (AHA) required for acute hospitals, and preferred for BHN locations
