About The Position

The Night Auditor is responsible for closing the business day by balancing revenues and receipts, performing bookkeeping activities, and providing guest services, including check-ins, check-outs, and addressing guest inquiries, to ensure a smooth overnight operation of the hotel. This role involves greeting, registering, and assigning rooms to hotel guests, verifying customer payment methods, and processing credit authorizations. The Night Auditor maintains accurate records of room availability and guest accounts using the property management system, balances daily receipts and revenues, and conducts income audits on posted revenues. They also assist guests with check-out processes, reviewing accounts, and resolving discrepancies, answer phone calls promptly, direct inquiries, and address guest needs. Coordination with morning staff is required to resolve guest issues that cannot be resolved overnight. Other duties include making and confirming reservations, providing information on hotel services and local attractions, documenting guest feedback, escalating issues to management, performing nightly "bucket checks" for compliance, and assisting in maintaining security and safety during overnight shifts by monitoring guest activity and access.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in basic bookkeeping and balancing financial transactions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in using property management systems and office software.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Previous experience in a hospitality or customer service role preferred.
