The office employs approximately 120 attorneys and 180 support staff, who are responsible for more than 6,000 felony and 12,000 misdemeanor prosecutions annually. The elected District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in the City and County of Denver and is responsible for the prosecution of violations of Colorado State Laws. The current Denver District Attorney is John Walsh. We are currently recruiting for a Legal Administrative Assistant. In this position you can expect to work on site at the Republic Plaza building located at 370 17th St., Suite 5300 Denver, CO 80202, Monday through Friday from 8:00AM - 5:00PM. The District Attorney's Office for the 2nd Judicial District is currently recruiting a Legal Administrator I.

Requirements

  • Paralegal, legal secretary, or other legal experience
  • Experience working as a lead or supervisor
  • Knowledge of State, Federal and Court of Appeals
  • Public service oriented
  • Clear written/verbal communication and analytical skills
  • Strong desire to learn and problem solve
  • Team-player with both leadership and staff
  • Strong Technical Ability Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a legal office performing administrative functions in the day-to-day operations of the organization.
  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages operational and logistical functions related to Statutory Grand Jury operations, including scheduling, juror coordination, courtroom logistics, inter-agency communication, and calendaring support for assigned legal units
  • Prepares, reviews, processes, and coordinates complex legal filings and related documentation for investigative cases and Grand Jury matters, including case initiation, document preparation, case management system maintenance, and filing coordination with the District Court
  • Coordinates the preparation, revision, organization, and filing of Grand Jury indictments, motions, and related legal documents; establishes and maintains associated case records, defendant information, witness data, investigative records, and related case management system documentation
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication and scheduling activities with judicial officers, court administration staff, jury commissioners, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, investigators, jurors, and other stakeholders involved in Grand Jury operations and related court proceedings
  • Coordinates operational and administrative activities related to Grand Jury selection processes, including juror correspondence, questionnaire review, records management, courtroom logistics, scheduling coordination, materials preparation, attendance tracking, and communication with prospective and seated jurors
  • Administers and maintains ongoing operational support for Grand Jury panels, including juror scheduling, attendance monitoring, communication regarding proceedings and appearances, coordination of transcripts and related materials, and maintenance of related records and documentation
  • Prepares, maintains, processes, and distributes legal records, subpoenas, transcripts, motions, endorsements, court filings, and related case documentation in accordance with established policies, procedures, court rules, and statutory requirements
  • Provides administrative and operational oversight for electronic filing systems, case management platforms, evidence management systems, and related technology resources, including account administration, document coding, case transfers, records maintenance, workflow coordination, and system support
  • Coordinates records management activities including scanning, retention, retrieval, transfer, and secure storage of legal files, investigative materials, Grand Jury records, and related documentation
  • Maintains confidentiality and ensures the secure handling of sensitive legal documents, criminal justice information, Grand Jury materials, investigations and proceedings, personnel matters, and protected information in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, statutes, court rules, and regulations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
