About The Position

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a Field Application Scientist to join our Commercial team. This role provides scientific and technical support for customer engagement, consultation, and solution development across TriLink's guide RNA (gRNA), oligonucleotide, mRNA, and related nucleic acid technologies. The Field Application Scientist partners with customers, Business Development, and cross-functional teams to understand scientific requirements and recommend technical solutions that support product adoption and successful customer applications. The position independently supports customer engagements, technical troubleshooting, and pre- and post-sales activities while contributing scientific insights that strengthen customer experience and commercial effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genomics, or a related scientific discipline with 0–2 years of relevant experience; or bachelor's degree with 8+ years or master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more relevant areas, such as guide RNA (gRNA), oligonucleotide synthesis, mRNA technologies, nucleic acid therapeutics, molecular biology, or related scientific applications.
  • Experience supporting scientific product development, custom manufacturing, analytical testing, process development, GMP services, quality, or related technical functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess technical requirements, analyze scientific information, troubleshoot applications, and develop practical customer-focused recommendations.
  • Strong customer-facing, consultative, presentation, and scientific communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Business Development, Commercial, Product Management, Research & Development, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% to support customer meetings, conferences, scientific presentations, and commercial activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of clinical development, CMC, GMP, or regulatory considerations supporting nucleic acid therapeutics is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Business Development and Commercial teams to provide scientific and technical support for customer opportunities, custom solutions, and pre- and post-sales activities.
  • Develop scientific recommendations for guide RNA (gRNA), oligonucleotide, mRNA, custom manufacturing, analytical testing, and phase-appropriate GMP services based on customer requirements and product capabilities.
  • Serve as a scientific resource to customers by addressing technical questions, troubleshooting applications, and providing guidance on TriLink technologies, products, and services.
  • Assess customer requirements and collaborate with Product Management, Research & Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams to evaluate technical feasibility and identify appropriate solution approaches.
  • Represent TriLink through customer meetings, scientific presentations, webinars, workshops, conferences, and industry events while communicating technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Capture and communicate Voice of the Customer (VOC), emerging applications, scientific literature, and market trends to support product improvements, customer applications, and commercial initiatives.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals, statements of work (SOWs), scientific presentations, webinars, application materials, and other customer-facing technical documentation.
  • Perform other functions and duties as required.
