About The Position

The Residence at Paine Estate is seeking a Director of Nursing to join their team. This role is responsible for coordinating resident care to ensure residents remain as independent as possible, while also supporting their physical, psychosocial, and emotional well-being. The Director of Nursing acts as a liaison with healthcare personnel and community support systems, and is responsible for hiring, evaluating, scheduling, and supervising staff. This position also involves representing the residence to the community, fostering a culture of quality service and customer satisfaction, and promoting positive associate engagement.

Requirements

  • Licensed practical nurse or Registered Nurse licensed in the State they are practicing in.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with office software (word processing, spreadsheets, database managers, presentation software).
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledgeable about care for seniors with dementia according to LCB Senior Living Policy, and current State and local standards.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and completely.
  • At least 25 years of age.
  • At least (2) years of demonstrated experience with caring for seniors.
  • Supervisory management skills.
  • Active nursing license in the state you are employed.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Connecticut requires either an RN with a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a minimum of (2) years full time equivalent clinical experience in nursing, at least (1) of which shall be in a home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home; or a diploma or associates degree in nursing and at least (4) years full time or full time equivalent clinical experience in nursing within the past (10) years, at least (1) year of which shall be in a home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living.
  • Represent and interact positively with potential residents, family members, and professionals to grow community occupancy.
  • Assume administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the overall management of the Residence.
  • Ensure open and timely communication with associates, residents, families, and LCB Senior Living regarding community operations and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with LCB Senior Living's Policies and Procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement processes, strategic planning, and environmental safety programs.
  • Manage a community outreach plan and liaison network with industry partners.
  • Ensure associates are provided with necessary resources for efficient and economic task completion.
  • Maintain departmental budgets and ensure implementation of operating and financial controls.
  • Ensure proper planning and implementation of staff orientation and training.
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperative interactions to improve services.
  • Ensure completion of timely associate reviews and administer counseling, retraining, and corrective action fairly.
  • Administer topical and oral medications, as well as ear and eye drops, and injectables where permitted.
  • Ensure completion and review of incident/accident reports and implement changes to minimize future issues.
  • Prepare annual operating budget in conjunction with LCB Senior Living and communicate required resources.
  • Review resident complaints and grievances and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Oversee all record-keeping functions within the facility.
  • Ensure all required staffing and schedules are met, including backup coverage.
  • Conduct and/or attend required in-service training and orientation.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the residence and provide direction to Department Managers.
  • Participate in the Manager-on-Duty Program.
  • Coordinate and manage all nursing and assisted living aide services.
  • Supervise assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides.
  • Ensure the evaluation of the clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides.
  • Participate in or develop agency objectives, standards of care, policies, and procedures concerning nursing services.
  • Participate in direct service staff recruitment, selection, orientation, and in-service education.
  • Participate in program planning, budgeting, and evaluating activities related to clinical services.
  • Plan for clients who no longer require services.
  • Ensure the availability of nursing services on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.
  • Provide weekly reports to the executive director regarding problems and concerns.
  • Provide monthly reports to the service coordinator regarding statistical data.
  • Oversee compliance with LCB quality initiatives and state regulatory compliance programs.
