About The Position

The Senior Director, Fulfillment & Operations Technology leads the design, delivery, support, and continuous improvement of technology powering Four Hands’ physical operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse management, transportation, product quality, and Art Studio production systems. The role sets architectural direction and engineering standards while remaining actively involved in solution reviews, technical trade-offs, and collaboration with the team. It oversees support and delivery engineering for software development, integrations, and SaaS/third-party implementations, and is accountable for reliable operation of the systems and data integrations maintained by these teams. The role combines long-term technology strategy with day-to-day system reliability. It partners with operational leaders to translate business challenges into roadmaps and practical solutions, establishes modern engineering practices and high delivery and support standards, and communicates technical decisions and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The position owns architecture and governance across the portfolio; support models, incident response, and integration reliability; and technology strategy for warehouse management, inbound and outbound logistics, product quality, and Art Studio systems. It also manages technical debt and establishes standards across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead solution architecture across fulfillment and operations technology, ensuring solutions are scalable, integrated, and maintainable.
  • Establish architectural standards and best practices for custom development, integrations, and SaaS platforms.
  • Evaluate technology solutions and make build-versus-buy decisions based on business needs, scalability, and cost.
  • Oversee technical design from requirements through implementation, including integrations, data models, and APIs.
  • Ensure solution designs incorporate reliability, security, monitoring, and recovery capabilities.
  • Advise operations, logistics, quality, and Art Studio leaders; translate operational challenges into solution designs, roadmaps, and delivery priorities.
  • Build cross-functional relationships that promote collaboration, alignment, and adoption of operational technology.
  • Communicate architecture decisions, delivery progress, support performance, and technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Own the operational support model for systems and data integrations in the portfolio, ensuring incidents are detected, triaged, and resolved with minimal impact.
  • Define and maintain support tiers, on-call responsibilities, escalation paths, and response SLAs, including coverage expectations for systems operating outside standard business hours.
  • Own reliability and integrity of data integrations, including EDI, API, and middleware connections; establish ownership, document failure modes, and implement automated alerting on anomalies.
  • Track incident trends, conduct root cause analysis, and turn findings into architectural or process improvements that reduce future risk.
  • Structure teams and support rotations to meet operational commitments while protecting engineering capacity for project delivery.
  • Establish ownership models, standards, and governance practices for scalable, secure, maintainable, and resilient operational systems.
  • Define and uphold standards across the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, release management, documentation, and support.
  • Manage technical debt and prioritize remediation where it creates operational risk or constrains future delivery.
  • Lead WMS strategy, configuration, continuous improvement, and support for receiving, putaway, pick/pack/ship, inventory accuracy, and returns.
  • Own systems and integrations for purchase order management, inbound shipment visibility, carrier connections, rate shopping, routing, and outbound fulfillment.
