About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families. The veterinarian serves families in Edison, Piscataway, Westfield, Cranford, Old Bridge, Bridgewater, New Jersey, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is provided in pets’ homes, where veterinarians help families through end-of-life decisions and goodbyes with dignity, empathy, and respect. The role involves independent mobile practice with a small number of appointments each day and support from the team. Heartstrings provides onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, training, and access to experienced colleagues. Schedule options range from two days per week to full time, with self-managed scheduling available for some part-time schedules. Full-time compensation includes a guaranteed salary and quarterly bonus opportunities; compensation is prorated for part-time schedules. Guaranteed compensation ranges from $70,000 to $145,000 depending on schedule. There is no non-compete agreement.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
- Guide and support families through end-of-life decisions and goodbyes with kindness and compassion.
- Answer families’ questions and help ensure pets and families receive unhurried, dignified care.
- Practice independently while traveling to appointments in the service area.
