About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Trenton, Princeton, Jackson, Manalapan Township, and the surrounding metropolitan area of New Jersey. Care is delivered in clients’ homes, allowing veterinarians to spend time listening, explaining options, answering difficult questions, and supporting families through end-of-life decisions with dignity and empathy. The work is designed to offer a slower pace than a traditional clinic, with a few appointments each day and no double-booking. Veterinarians practice independently in the field, with support from thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two days per week to full-time, including self-managed flex scheduling. Full-time schedules are available in four- or five-day formats; weekend work is arranged by choosing four weekend days per month. Compensation is guaranteed and ranges from $70,000 to $145,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. The company states that it does not require non-competes.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving-record review before the start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
- Support families through end-of-life decisions by listening, explaining, and answering questions with compassion.
- Practice independently while traveling to appointments in the service area.
- Participate in the schedule selected, including choosing four weekend days per month.
