About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Edison, Piscataway, Westfield, Cranford, Old Bridge, Bridgewater, New Jersey, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is delivered in clients’ homes, allowing veterinarians to support families at a thoughtful pace and help pets experience dignified, peaceful goodbyes. The veterinarian practices independently while traveling between appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Schedule options range from two to five days per week, with self-managed scheduling available. Compensation is guaranteed and ranges from $70,000 to $145,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. The employer states that it does not use non-compete agreements.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
Support families through end-of-life decisions and help them say goodbye with dignity and peace.
Listen to families, explain care, and honor each pet's story during appointments.
Practice independently while traveling to appointments.
Choose four weekend days per month to work, with no fixed weekend rotation.
