About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the appropriate state.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. RN candidates hired externally or promoted internally without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within one year of the hire or transfer date and complete it within three years of enrollment.
• BLS certification required according to policy guidelines.
• Appropriate professional certification, clinical or leadership, required within one year of eligibility for the certification exam.
• Ability to speak and understand English fluently.
• Ability to lift and support 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, stoop, bend, push, and pull; intact sight, hearing, smell, and touch; finger dexterity; critical thinking; and ability to concentrate.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of nursing experience preferred.
• Previous management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the manager in using systematic approaches to enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing service administration, and care delivery.
• Assist with interviewing, selecting, and supervising nursing personnel in the department.
• Help coordinate communication during shifts through staff meetings and huddles.
• Collaborate with the manager to promote understanding of and compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
• Round on patients, teammates, and physicians at prescribed frequencies to assess satisfaction, patient care, and department operations.
• Delegate elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers within applicable legal and policy parameters.
• Help identify expected outcomes to support continuity of care and department operations.
• Assist in evaluating progress toward goals and expected outcomes and share relevant information with teammates involved.
• Provide nursing care and assist with treatments, therapies, procedures, and medication administration as needed.
• Coordinate patient flow, throughput, and staffing by continuously assessing volume and acuity needs and available resources.
