About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• U.S. citizenship due to security requirements for access to SBI applications.
• Obtain Division of Criminal Information Network (DCIN) certification within three months of hire.
• Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and perform on-call duties.
• Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, including a pre-employment polygraph examination, credit and arrest checks, interviews with associates and personal and business references, employer verification interviews, education verification, medical examination, urinalysis drug screening, and fingerprint submission.

Responsibilities

• Manage the unit to provide effective and efficient public access and respond to customer questions and concerns.
• Assist local, state, and federal agencies with offender compliance.
• Ensure sheriff offices consistently and correctly submit statutorily required sex offender information to the North Carolina registry database.
• Maintain awareness of the registry program’s technical and transactional functions and work with SBI IT staff to implement necessary changes.
• Collaborate with the SBI Legislative Affairs Manager and Legal Counsel on legislative matters that may affect the registry.
• Develop, implement, and perform managerial and supervisory duties for assigned staff.
• Plan, coordinate, direct, review, and maintain appropriate unit workflow.
• Coordinate and supervise registry-related special projects with other state and federal agencies.
• Generate statistical analysis regarding offenders.
• Assist the Criminal Justice Information Manager in identifying unit needs and possible grant funding opportunities to enhance North Carolina’s compliance with federal sex offender mandates.
• Perform on-call duties.
