About The Position

Provide supervision and guidance to children in an age-appropriate manner according to the NAEYC accreditation standards. Creates and maintains an appropriate classroom environment which is safe, organized, stimulating, clean and orderly. Keeps accurate records of children’s charts, sign in/out sheets, and maintains daily attendance records and assessments. Reports all suspected illness or accidents to either the Site Supervisor or Director for appropriate action. Develops a caring relationship with children and their parents. Meets with the parents informally to discuss the child’s daily progress. Maintains knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development through continuing education, literature, workshops, or attendance at education in-service programs. (21 hours per year is required) Follows all infection control procedures. Lesson plans are age appropriate and show progression for development (i.e., inside/outside activities). Participates in planning and implementing special events for the Nursery School and hospital. Reports on any maintenance needs to office Attends yearly parent meeting and attends regularly scheduled staff meetings. Provides physical caregiving, diapering, and feeding as needed. Prepares and serves nutritionally balanced snacks and meals. Monitors the health and wellbeing of infants and/or toddlers. Supervises daily charting. Plans and implements appropriate developmental experiences for the infants and communicate with parents concerning their infant and/or toddler. Supervises staff in the classroom and yard.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • Twenty-four postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in of Early Childhood Education or Child Development is required, three of these must be in an infant/toddler course.
  • 2 years Work experience in a licensed daycare center as an Infant/Toddler caregiver.
  • Good oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Exceptional patience and empathy.
  • Pleasant, gentle, and unhurried demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality.
  • Above average health, stamina, and the physical ability to move quickly bend and lift lightweight furniture and children.
  • Heart Saver CPR
  • PEDS First Aid

  • Related undergraduate study
  • Bachelor’s Degree Early Childhood or Child Development.
  • Supervisor training
  • Health/Safety Communicable diseases class a plus.
