About The Position

Pathways In Education Arizona is seeking an on-call, as-needed Online Programs Substitute Teacher to support student academic growth and the expansion of its online programs. The role focuses on virtual instruction, individualized academic support, student progress, and engagement. The substitute will provide flexible instructional coverage as needed, primarily for Arizona Online Programs, with the possibility of supporting online programs in other states. The position may also involve in-person state testing and maintaining a partial or full summer or winter student load during short-term enrollment periods, as needed.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of teaching or classroom experience.
Valid Arizona Substitute Teaching Certificate or standard Arizona Teaching Certificate; an Arizona Substitute, PreK–12 certificate is preferred.
Ability to teach and delegate responsibility to students.
Ability to provide effective virtual instruction and engage students in an online learning environment.
Ability to work independently and efficiently, use reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multitask environment, and work with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to collaborate with field and corporate staff to implement the educational program.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills while maintaining courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with students, parents, coworkers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
Working knowledge of Google Suite, virtual learning platforms, and database management.

Responsibilities

Prepare focused interventions to support students’ academic success in a virtual learning environment.
Teach students in multiple subjects using online teaching methods, audiovisual aids, and other instructional materials.
Prepare course outlines in accordance with curriculum guidelines and state or school requirements.
Collaborate with teachers to identify alternative interventions that motivate students and help prevent dropout.
Provide individualized virtual instruction and academic support to help students complete coursework.
Monitor student progress, grade assignments, and provide timely feedback.
Meet virtually with students to review academic progress, address challenges, and establish learning goals.
Assist students in selecting courses of study and counsel them on adjustment and academic problems.
Collaborate and communicate with parents, students, and teachers to improve attendance, engagement, and academic performance.
Contact students and families regularly by phone, text message, email, and virtual meetings.
Participate as needed in community groups or functions, faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, truancy court, and teacher training workshops.
Participate in related activities, including student organizations or committees.
Administer tests, assess student work, evaluate progress, and record results.
Maintain attendance records, student files, and transcripts.
Assist with state-mandated student testing, including in-person testing as needed.
Maintain files in preparation for random, bi-monthly, and year-end audits.
Provide flexible instructional coverage during teacher absences, increased enrollment, or additional academic support needs.
Support the growth and expansion of Online Programs, potentially assisting students across multiple states.
Perform other assigned administrative functions and duties.
Maintain a partial or full summer or winter student load during short-term enrollment periods, as needed.
