About The Position
Teachers On Demand is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic K-8 Substitute Teachers in Merrillville, Indiana, for the 2026/2027 school year. Substitute Teachers maintain a seamless educational experience for students during regular teachers’ absences and work across varied classroom settings. The role offers an opportunity to gain experience and positively affect students’ lives. Teachers On Demand specializes in placing interim and permanent staff in K-12 schools and districts and works with more than 200 educational institutions. Substitute Teachers deliver instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher, support student learning, manage classroom behavior, and follow school policies and safety guidelines. The role is a W-2 employee position. Substitutes are paid weekly. Hourly rates vary by degree and certification status: Short-Term Degreed Teacher, $20; Long-Term Degreed Teacher, $23; Short-Term Certified Teacher, $23; and Long-Term Certified Teacher, $26.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited United States institution in a related field.
- Proficient technology skills and familiarity with EdTech platforms.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different classroom environments.
- Commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering a positive learning experience for all students.
Nice To Haves
- Valid teaching certification or license for the state or province of assignment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher.
