About The Position

As a Permanent Substitute Teacher at Legacy Traditional Schools, you serve in a variety of teaching positions across subjects including Spalding reading and writing, science, social studies, and enVision math. You create a safe, engaging classroom environment and use direct instruction and other teaching strategies to support students’ social, physical, and intellectual growth. You adapt support to individual learning needs, implement the school’s curriculum and educational philosophy, encourage students to model the school’s values, and work with parents or guardians and support staff to help students succeed. The role involves working across campuses as required and participating in events outside normal hours.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education.
• Current substitute teaching certificate from the state where the position is located.
• Pass a criminal history background check; requirements may vary by state and may include state and national checks.
• Ability to be active in the role, including light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout campus, and traveling to other campuses as required.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages students, and supports them in doing their best.
• Use direct instruction and activities to promote students’ social, physical, and intellectual growth.
• Identify individual student needs and provide side-by-side support, developing approaches suited to students’ learning styles and abilities.
• Learn and implement the school’s curriculum and educational philosophy, using varied teaching strategies to guide students toward curriculum goals.
• Encourage students to uphold the school’s values and model mature behavior, good character, and social skills in the classroom and on campus.
• Evaluate and celebrate student academic performance and share students’ progress and accomplishments with parents or guardians.
• Help ensure support staff are prepared to support students.
• Participate in events outside normal hours and travel to other campuses as required.
