About The Position

BASIS Baton Rouge Mid City is building a pool of qualified, reliable substitute teachers to provide classroom coverage on an as-needed basis. Substitute Teachers fill in for absent teachers and help maintain continuity of instruction and a high-quality learning experience. They facilitate teacher-provided lesson plans, maintain classroom routines and expectations, and create a positive, productive learning environment. Depending on daily needs, substitutes may cover a variety of subjects and grade levels.

BASIS Charter Schools use the BASIS Charter School Curriculum and describe their learning communities as collaborative and professional. Teachers have autonomy and academic freedom to create dynamic lessons, support student learning, and work with fellow educators.

Salary is competitive and depends on the frequency of substitute coverage. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the subject matter, or 24 or more credit hours in the applicable subject matter with another degree.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the subject matter or education.
• Two or more years of teaching or education experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate provided lesson plans.
• Provide subject instruction above grade-standard in an interactive learning environment to achieve exceptional results for students.
• Manage student behavior to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect, individuality, and respect.
• Support non-instructional functions, such as “Early Bird,” “Late Bird,” lunch, and study hall.
• Arrive on time and remain available for the full duration of accepted substitute assignments.
• Supervise individual students and groups of students.
