This is a part-time position that works every Friday and Saturday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The role involves ensuring clear communication of expectations related to department or unit goals and objectives. Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate. The supervisor will counsel as indicated, formulate employee progress plans, and extend probationary periods if an employee is unable to meet standards. Performance planning and evaluation system requirements are met, with evaluations completed by established deadlines and proper documentation. Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur. Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. The position participates in formulating, interpreting, and implementing department objectives, providing quality resident care in compliance with established guidelines and regulations. This includes reviewing the effectiveness of resident care plans, department, and facility administrative policies and procedures. The supervisor receives and gives daily reports, makes rounds, and conducts unit surveys and audits. They initiate, coordinate, or recommend corrective action to resolve observed or reported resident care, procedural, or physical problems. In the absence of the DON, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for administrative and operational decisions of the facility. They coordinate with physicians and ancillary departments in assessing resident needs and treatments and are required to make immediate operational decisions regarding emergency care and resolving department staffing problems. The role may also function as a Charge Nurse if necessary. Safety rules and regulations are enforced, ensuring all work-related incidents are reported and investigated in a timely and accurate manner. Appropriate corrective action is initiated or recommended to avoid recurrence. A clean, safe, and orderly work area is maintained throughout the facility. Staffing resources are evaluated and adjusted as needed. The performance of all nursing staff during tours of duty is monitored and evaluated. The supervisor may initiate informal or formal counseling of staff and indicate or recommend discipline, promotion, transfer, salary adjustments, or other personnel transactions as authorized. Participation in the grievance process and providing written responses as authorized by facility policy may occur. Communication with staffing agency representatives is conducted when necessary. The role involves attending Nurse Management and other meetings as assigned. Changes in policy and procedures are communicated, and department concerns/priorities are discussed with subordinates. Staying informed of new nursing care methods, equipment, etc., is expected. Assistance is provided in identifying department training needs, and employees are oriented and trained as needed. Other duties as assigned that are within the Nursing department's mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility may be performed. The individual may be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
