The Port Engineer oversees the day-to-day maintenance and repair activities for the tug and barge fleet, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment. This role involves implementing and monitoring the Preventive Maintenance Plan, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system issues, and managing vessel repairs including emergency response. The Port Engineer plans and supervises shipyard periods, drydocking's, and major equipment overhauls, while maintaining accurate engineering records and recommending capital improvement projects. The position also involves ensuring compliance with USCG, ABS, and EPA regulations, managing vendors and budgets for maintenance and repairs, and providing technical guidance and support to vessel crews, Port Captain, and Chief Engineers. This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position reporting to the Operations Manager.
