About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract opportunity in Utica, New York. The nurse will provide intermediate and progressive care to adult patients with neurological, cardiac, trauma, respiratory, and postoperative conditions. The patient population includes patients with COPD, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular step-down needs, neurological conditions, trauma, and postoperative needs. Candidates must be comfortable caring for patients requiring advanced monitoring and respiratory support.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent IMCU or PCU registered nurse experience.
- Current, active New York Registered Nurse license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Previous travel nursing experience.
- Epic EMR experience.
- Experience with progressive/intermediate care patients.
- Ability to float as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and ventilator patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult IMCU/PCU patients with neurological, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, and postoperative conditions.
- Assess patient status, recognize changes in clinical condition, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions and escalation of care.
- Manage patients requiring temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, high-flow respiratory support, and chronic ventilator care within demonstrated competency.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitor patient response, and maintain accurate Epic documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Float to qualified units as required.
