About The Position

The Registered Nurse, Behavioral Health supports the department’s clinical, operational, and administrative needs. The role delivers quality nursing care, ensures treatment-plan goals are carried out in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, and applies demonstrated nursing competencies. The nurse assesses patients, plans and documents care within set timeframes, monitors changes in patient condition, and responds appropriately, including notifying a physician when needed. The nurse also provides shift oversight and supports staff in delivering consistent, exemplary patient care.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• Current RN license as required by state regulations.
• CPR certification and De-escalation certification, or ability to obtain them within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility.
• Direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients.
• Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, plan care within established timeframes, and document findings according to policies.
• Oversee and supervise the shift.
• Demonstrate leadership, including delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, and meal supervision.
• Oversee staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond accordingly, including notifying the physician when needed.
• Administer medications according to hospital policy.
• Interact with patients consistently using empathy, dignity, and respect.
• Deliver quality nursing care to ensure treatment-plan goals are properly executed in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and nursing competencies.
• Assist with or perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.
