About The Position

IU Health is seeking an experienced, compassionate Registered Nurse for its adult Progressive Care/Step-Down Unit at IU Health Saxony in Fishers. The role provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult patients with intermediate-acuity needs who require closer monitoring and more complex nursing interventions than a medical-surgical unit, but not intensive-care-level services. The nurse manages complex medical conditions, continuous monitoring, frequent assessments, medication titration within scope and policy, patient and family education, and interdisciplinary coordination to support safe progression of care. The position is available on full-time or part-time day shifts, with 12-hour shifts, every-third-weekend rotation, and holiday rotation. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, calm under pressure, highly organized, and able to recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition. Candidates need recent acute-care nursing experience and the ability to assess and manage complex medical, cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, and post-procedural needs. IU Health describes itself as Indiana’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare system and the state’s number-one-ranked healthcare system. It offers a supportive, collaborative, patient-centered work environment and competitive benefits.

  • Strong critical-thinking, communication, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Candidates who did not graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program may be considered if they have more than two years of acute-care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer.
