About The Position

IU Health is hiring an experienced, compassionate Registered Nurse for its adult Progressive Care/Step-Down Unit at IU Health Saxony in Fishers. The role provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients with intermediate-acuity needs who require closer monitoring and more complex interventions than patients on a medical-surgical unit, but do not require intensive-care-level services. The RN manages complex medical conditions, continuous monitoring, frequent assessments, medication titration within scope and policy, patient and family education, and interdisciplinary coordination to support safe progression of care. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, calm under pressure, highly organized, and able to recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition. The posting lists full-time and part-time night shifts, 12-hour shifts, every third weekend rotation, and holiday rotation. Candidates must have at least one year of PCU/Stepdown RN experience as stated at the opening of the posting; the required qualifications section also specifies a minimum of two years of recent acute-care nursing experience.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the applicable state; the qualifications section specifies an active Indiana RN license or active Nurse Licensure Compact RN license.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) is accepted and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of recent acute-care nursing experience required.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; the qualifications section specifies certification through the AHA.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required or obtained within the organization’s designated timeframe; other advanced life support certifications may be required according to unit or department specialty and patient care policies.
  • Ability to assess and manage patients with complex medical, cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, and post-procedural needs.
  • Strong critical-thinking, communication, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Nursing program must be nationally accredited. Candidates from programs that are not nationally accredited may be considered with more than two years of acute-care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer.
