About The Position

This position serves as the customer service and administrative support for the Area 14 workgroup of Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). The role involves providing diverse customer service through various channels including walk-ins, phone calls, email, and mail. Responsibilities include the sale of wildlife and state park products, maintaining customer records, providing information, operating a cash register, handling payments for licenses, permits, and citations, and answering public inquiries about hunting, fishing, state parks, wildlife regulations, and conflict prevention. The position also supports internal operations by dispatching for officers, managing office supplies, communicating with volunteers and interns, handling mail, ensuring office equipment functionality, liaising with repair vendors, inputting data into applications and databases, conducting wildlife checks, and performing other assigned administrative duties. A key aspect of the role is to act as the public face of customer service for the Colorado Springs CPW office, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is provided to the public. The position may also involve coordinating transportation for sick or injured wildlife and, in some cases, humanely euthanizing small animals. Additionally, the role includes performing Chronic Wasting Disease sampling, which requires handling deceased animal carcasses. Internal support includes serving as a point of contact for constituents, volunteers, and vendors, assessing and dispatching calls, monitoring office equipment, maintaining supplies, facilitating mail distribution, assisting with meeting/class/event scheduling, supporting administrative tasks for the Area III, and general office upkeep. The role also involves recruiting, training, and supporting front desk volunteers and coordinating wildlife transport volunteers.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, Program or project management, Administrative Assistant, Front Desk, Call center, office environment, project management, handling of money, or experience related to the work assigned.
  • OR A combination of related education in Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, Biology, Aquatic Biology/Fishery Science/Aquaculture/Fishery Management, Economics, Public Administration, Communications, Public Engagement/volunteer management, Education, Business, Program Management/Project Management, Computer Science, Applied Computing, Computer Engineering, IT, Accounting, Finance and/or relevant experience equal to two (2) years.
  • State of Colorado residency is required at the time of application.
  • Background Check required.
  • Must maintain a safe driving record and a valid driver license if expected to drive a State-owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer service and administrative tasks for the Area 14 workgroup.
  • Provide diverse customer service to CPW customers via walk-in, phone, email, and mail.
  • Sell wildlife and state park products, including licenses, passes, permits, and registrations.
  • Maintain customer records in IPAWS, including name and address changes and hunter education verification.
  • Operate a cash register and handle payments for licenses, permits, citations, and merchandise.
  • Answer phones and provide information on hunting, fishing, state parks, wildlife regulations, and conflict prevention.
  • Dispatch calls for officers and other Area staff.
  • Manage and stock office supplies, brochures, and merchandise.
  • Ensure office equipment is operational and serve as a liaison with repair vendors.
  • Input information into various applications and databases.
  • Conduct mandatory and voluntary wildlife checks, including Chronic Wasting Disease sampling.
  • Coordinate transportation arrangements for sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife to certified rehabilitators.
  • Humanely euthanize small animals that are sick, injured, or orphaned, following AVMA Guidelines.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule front desk volunteers.
  • Assist with CORE documentation, monthly billing, and Area staff purchasing/accounting.
  • Perform general office upkeep and cleaning.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
