About The Position

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable CSMA Technical Trainer to support statewide customer service operations. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality training programs for employees across Customer Service Centers, the Contact Center, and Leveraged Services. The trainer provides classroom, virtual, and hybrid instruction on DMV policies, products, services, and performance-related topics, ensuring staff are equipped to deliver consistent, exceptional customer service. The CSMA Technical Trainer evaluates curriculum effectiveness, incorporates feedback, and adapts training content to meet evolving organizational needs. By supporting employee development and reinforcing compliance with state and federal regulations, this position plays a key role in advancing CSMA’s mission of operational excellence, innovation, and enhanced customer experience. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In addition, the DMV serves many businesses, including dealers, fuel tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and nonprofit organizations. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of DMV policies and procedures, particularly related to training and development.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, curriculum development, and instructional design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and virtual platforms (such as WebEx and Learning Management Systems).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate training documentation and records.
  • Must hold a valid Virginia driver’s license with no more than 6 demerit points.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with eLearning platforms and virtual training delivery.
  • Analytical skills for assessing the effectiveness of training programs and implementing continuous improvements.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to DMV operations and customer service delivery.
  • Experience in curriculum development, especially in a public service or government setting.
  • Experience working in a training role at the DMV or a similar regulatory environment.
  • Must obtain and maintain certifications related to DMV training programs as required, including LMS administration or relevant DMV systems certification.
