About The Position
National General, part of The Allstate Corporation, is hiring a Field Property Adjuster based near Worcester, Northborough, or Natick, Massachusetts. The adjuster manages property claims from initial inspection through resolution, including estimating damage, reviewing supplements, handling contents losses, evaluating applicable coverage, and supporting customers throughout the claims process. The role combines independent field work, critical thinking, technical expertise, and customer service. The adjuster manages an assigned territory and workload, documents claim activity, communicates with customers and other parties, and makes decisions in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Experience handling claims in the field and virtually is preferred. The position has no supervisory duties.
Requirements
- Property claims experience.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Xactimate.
- An active adjuster license or the ability to obtain one.
- Individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments before onboarding and may not hold outside appointments during employment.
- Applicants for an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed by the licensing team.
- Authorization to work in the United States; the company does not sponsor work visas.
Nice To Haves
- Experience handling claims both in the field and virtually.
- Applicable active licenses, which may include a Home Resident Property & Casualty License, a Designated Home State (DHS) Florida or Texas License, and/or an applicable Appraiser License.
Responsibilities
- Create estimates for damages on complex first-party homeowner losses of all severities, applying mastery of estimating fundamentals.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
- Interpret regulatory compliance requirements and fair claims practices.
- Negotiate settlements, make settlement payments, and document activities in complex claim files.
- Interpret all policy types written by the company and assist leadership with formal and ad hoc training.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Manage property claims from inspection through resolution, including estimating damage, reviewing supplements, handling contents losses, and supporting customers.
- Conduct field inspections, evaluate damages, review applicable coverage, develop repair estimates, and communicate throughout the claims process.
