About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification.
• Knowledge of patient transport policies, procedures, and equipment used for patients with varying conditions.
• Ability to interpret information and instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Written and verbal communication skills for communicating with team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
• Time-management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and meeting deadlines within standardized policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including handling multiple tasks and interruptions.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting from established solutions.
• Ability to protect the privacy of patients’ protected health information.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate in-house patient transportation or lift service requests.
• Transport patients safely, promptly, and courteously throughout the facility, including patients using complex medical equipment.
• Deliver deceased patients to the mortuary according to policy and procedure.
• Monitor and care for patients during transport and communicate effectively with patients, families or support groups, and healthcare providers.
• Follow applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to protect patient privacy and safety.
• May perform specific tasks and/or orient other staff in the department.
