About The Position

The Patient Escort transports patients to diagnostic departments and from Admitting to patient units under the direction of the Service Response Center Supervisor. The role also transports urology discharges and helps nursing staff transfer patients to and from transport vehicles. When required, the employee administers nasal oxygen. Other duties include transporting lab specimens, medical records, and flowers, and delivering oxygen tanks and Operating Room schedules to patient units. The position supports safe patient transportation and department safety policies and completes oxygen rounds as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required for candidates hired on or after 05/01/2004.
• Must be able to read and speak English.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Successful completion of hospital orientation.
• Successful completion of department orientation.
• Ability to perform the essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, including the stated physical demands.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce department safety policies and procedures to help ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
• Complete oxygen rounds as assigned, following the oxygen rounds sheets.
