About The Position

At Bridgeport Hospital, the Patient Escort supports coordinated, patient-centered care as part of the patient care team. Under the direction of the Service Response Center Supervisor, this position transports patients to diagnostic departments and from Admitting to patient units, transports urology discharges, and helps nursing staff transfer patients to and from transport vehicles. The role also administers nasal oxygen when required; transports lab specimens, medical records, and flowers; and delivers oxygen tanks and Operating Room schedules to patient units.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required for candidates hired on or after 05/01/2004.
• Must be able to read and speak English.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Successful completion of hospital orientation.
• Successful completion of department orientation.
• Able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper and safe patient transportation to all areas.
• Enforce department safety policies and procedures to assure patient, staff, and visitor safety.
• Complete assigned oxygen rounds according to the oxygen rounds sheets.
• Transport patients to diagnostic departments and from Admitting to patient units, including urology discharges.
• Assist nursing staff in transferring patients to and from transport vehicles.
• Administer nasal oxygen when required.
• Transport lab specimens, medical records, and flowers.
• Deliver oxygen tanks and Operating Room schedules to patient units.
