About The Position
The Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise invites applications for a calendar-year, non-tenure-track collegiate faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level. The position has a primary commitment to instruction and mentorship in the Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (MSND) program and HNFE, including graduate and undergraduate teaching, curricular and program development, and innovative and inclusive pedagogy with supervised experiential learning in professional settings. The successful candidate will help enhance MSND curricula and promote teaching excellence, and participate in department, college, university, and professional service. Anticipated responsibilities are 70% instruction and mentorship, 20% administration as assistant director of the MSND program, 5% pedagogical scholarship, and 5% service. The position includes teaching three to four courses per semester, assisting the MSND director with program operations, curricular innovation, scholarship of teaching and learning, mentorship of students from diverse backgrounds and identities, professional development and scholarly activities, and enhancement of supervised practice opportunities for dietetics graduate students. The appointment is restricted and exempt from overtime. Salary is $75,000–$86,000, commensurate with experience; the role is 40 hours per week. A criminal conviction check is required.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Nutrition or a closely related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
- Demonstrated experience in professional practice, which may include clinical, community, foodservice management, sustainability, extension, agriculture, industry, education, or related areas.
- Demonstrated experience instructing a broad scope of nutrition and nutrition-related courses.
- Demonstrated scholarship and/or leadership, such as peer-reviewed publications, professional meeting presentations, invited presentations, or professional leadership roles.
- Experience in higher education instructional and pedagogical activities, with strong potential to lead in the instructional mission.
- Excellent communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of experience in dietetics practice is preferred.
- Experience in online instruction.
- Experience with accredited academic or healthcare programs.
- Demonstrated mentorship of nutrition and dietetics or other healthcare students.
Responsibilities
- Teach multiple MSND and HNFE courses, approximately three to four courses per semester.
- Assist the MSND director with general program operations as assistant director of the MSND program.
- Participate in curricular innovation and transformation.
- Engage in scholarship of teaching and learning in HNFE.
- Mentor students from diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Continue professional development and scholarly activities, including travel to professional conferences.
- Participate in department, college, university, and professional service activities.
- Enhance supervised practice and other experiential learning opportunities for dietetics graduate students.
- Contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching, curricular and program development, and innovative and inclusive pedagogy.
