About The Position

Requirements

• Referees must be at least 16 years old; supervisors must be at least 18 years old.
• General knowledge of volleyball rules and willingness to learn.
• Availability to work weekday evening games and/or Saturdays, including evening shifts as assigned by Vineyard City's Parks & Rec Director, Rec Manager, or Rec Coordinators.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work with adults and children in grades 3–6.
• Must pass a background check and, for applicants aged 18 or older, a drug test.

Nice To Haves

• Prior referee or supervisory experience.
• Competitive volleyball experience.
• Previous volleyball instruction experience.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth volleyball games.
• Set up and clean up for games.
• Maintain order and encourage good sportsmanship.
• Teach participants basic volleyball skills.
• Communicate clearly, including using a whistle to make calls.
• Enforce Vineyard Recreation Youth Volleyball Game rules.
• Follow safety procedures and make sound decisions under pressure.
