About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a part-time School-Age Childcare Program Director for its After School Program at Akron Elementary School in Akron, New York, for the 2026–2027 school year. The program follows the school calendar and runs from 2:15 PM to 6:00 PM. The role involves leading a safe, healthy, and engaging environment where children learn through play and positive experiences. The Director facilitates activities from the Healthy Kids Curriculum, supports program operations, follows state and school policies, and serves as a positive role model for children. The role is suited to people who enjoy building relationships, supporting children’s growth, and working with families and teammates. Healthy Kids Programs provides employer-paid childcare for eligible school-age children enrolled in the program during the employee’s working days and hours. The organization operates Early Learning, Before and After School, and Summer Camp programs at more than 150 locations and is a certified Benefit Corporation focused on accessible, affordable childcare and meaningful opportunities for children, families, and team members.
Requirements
- Meet one of the following education and experience pathways: an associate degree in any field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role; two years of college with 18 credits plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role; a NY State Children’s Program Administrator Credential plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a School-Age Child Care Credential or equivalent office-recognized credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
- Obtain required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
- Be physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on activities based on the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children.
- Follow state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
- Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
