Preventive Maintenance Technician

About The Position
U-Haul is hiring a Preventive Maintenance Technician to maintain its fleet of Ford and GMC trucks and other field vehicles. The technician uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for vehicles, completes preventive maintenance and repairs, and works individually and as part of a team. U-Haul provides tools, on-the-job learning, and access to its Technician Training Program, which includes Ford, GMC, and U-Haul training. The position is based at 11700 W Capitol Dr, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The job includes a paid hands-on working interview; the posting also advertises a $100 hiring bonus.
Requirements
- Driver’s license.
- Basic mechanical aptitude; mechanical aptitude and repair experience are preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Regular attendance.
- Communication skills.
- Ability to work safely and remain alert.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

Nice To Haves
- Vehicle repair experience.
- Basic mechanical repair experience.
Responsibilities
- Secure trucks on lifts and ramps.
- Lubricate suspensions, perform oil changes, and replace minor parts.
- Repair fleet equipment based on pre-inspection repair lists.
- Work with the team to complete preventive maintenance repairs on 45 trucks per week.
- Perform tire and brake maintenance.
- Occasionally road-test vehicles.
- Use a proprietary electronic pre-inspection checklist.
- Provide assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
