About The Position
Spectrum provides treatment and detention support for youth aged 12–20 in a highly secure facility. The Facility Manager supervises all support personnel and operations on a designated shift, maintaining mandated staffing ratios and ensuring required documentation and daily shift reports are completed. Daily reports are provided to the Center Director. The manager serves as the designated contact person and supervises in the Center Director’s absence. The role ensures facility operations comply with SJJS procedures, Wayne County and Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) regulatory and contractual requirements, Child Caring Institution licensing standards, and Spectrum’s Personnel Policies and Procedures. Facility Managers coach, guide, and train supervisors and employees, resolve issues, respond decisively to challenges, and communicate across departments to support effective operations. The role requires knowledge of policies and facility processes, strong organization, and effective written and verbal communication.
Requirements
- Meet one of the following education and experience combinations: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of work experience in a child-caring institution; two years of college from an accredited college or university and 3 years of work experience in a child-caring institution; or a high school diploma and 4 years of work experience in a child-caring institution.
- Complete and return a DHHS Central Registry Clearance record showing no findings.
- Pass a criminal history background check with no felony convictions.
- Pass a physical examination indicating satisfactory health status and no communicable diseases, including TB.
- Have the physical ability to perform the job functions, with or without accommodation.
- Have reliable transportation and a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
- Have strong leadership, communication, organizational, coaching, and training skills.
- Know facility policies and processes and be able to write well and communicate across departments.
Responsibilities

- Resolve issues and respond to operational challenges with decisive action.
- Communicate across departments to ensure operations function effectively.
