About The Position
This position supports its department across multiple simultaneous projects and programs by creating reports and dashboards, expanding existing metrics, and continuously reviewing data for improvement. The successful candidate combines technical analytical expertise with strong interpersonal skills, building financial models in Excel and leading discussions with executives, branch managers, and operational teams. The role uses data-driven insights to inform decisions while fostering effective working relationships across the organization. The position follows a hybrid work model, requiring onsite presence four days per week at M&T Bank’s corporate headquarters at 345 Main Street, Buffalo, New York. The analyst develops and interprets reports, presents information through dashboards and slide decks, conducts analysis and data review, improves processes, and supports projects, audits, compliance testing, and operational issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related business-line experience, or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years of higher education and/or work experience.

Responsibilities
- Develop and produce departmental reports and spreadsheets requiring advanced reporting skills, including project or product strategy analysis, historical reporting, workflow analysis, and financial analysis.
- Create and interpret project or program reports, presenting information in accessible formats such as dashboards and slide decks.
- Perform non-routine analysis and judgment-based work in a single or closely related discipline to support business decisions.
- Perform non-routine data review, research, and reconciliation.
- Drive continuous improvement of existing processes and develop or enhance processes, including maintenance plans, procedural documentation, and custom automation tools.
- Identify resources that can support business operations or improve existing processes.
- Provide input and recommendations to management.
- Participate in planning and implementing projects, programs, and plans to achieve short- and long-term business objectives.
- Support departmental audits, user certification, and compliance testing.
- Lead or participate in planning, testing, and implementation of projects, systems, products, and regulatory changes affecting the team.
- Assist with technical troubleshooting and escalations, coordinating with business partners, vendors, and technology teams.
- Adhere to applicable compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company and regulatory standards and policies.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and applicable issues raised by external regulators.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
