About The Position
The VP of Manufacturing & Distribution Operations partners closely with the Director of Supply Chain Development NA to ensure effective, reliable, and high-quality delivery of products and services to independent optometrists across the United States. The role leads an evolving, multi-site operational network comprising two manufacturing facilities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Scottsdale, Arizona, with responsibility for an approximately $30 million controllable cost base and a workforce of approximately 140 employees. The position provides broad multi-site leadership, championing company values and behaviors to foster a positive, inclusive, high-performance culture. It enables site leadership teams to support IDOC’s mission of improving lives through better sight, with emphasis on customer experience, people development, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
Requirements
- Proven track record managing multi-site operations within the United States.
- Experience in planning, budgeting, financial management, and operational performance.
- Strong understanding of core business functions, including finance, HR, procurement, operations, and supply chain.
- Exceptional analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data to inform decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and a continuous improvement mindset.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in optical manufacturing is a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities
- Deliver IDOC Labs operational plans in partnership with Sales, Product, Finance, HR, and Group Supply Chain.
- Lead organizational change initiatives that support long-term strategic objectives.
- Drive sustainability, efficiency, and continuous improvement agendas across all sites.
- Ensure facilities maintain a safe, compliant, and well-organized working environment.
- Hold accountability for overall business performance across manufacturing and distribution operations.
- Lead manufacturing and distribution capital investment planning and oversee major operational and infrastructure projects.
- Evaluate and optimize organizational structure, resource allocation, and leadership capability to meet annual and long-term business plans.
- Report operational KPIs, financial performance, and strategic progress to the Director of Supply Chain Development within agreed timelines.
- Participate in and occasionally lead cross-functional projects and strategic programs as required.
- Operate effectively within a matrixed organization through collaboration and cross-functional influence.
- Build and sustain a people-centric culture with high-performing teams, clear development pathways, and performance-aligned rewards.
- Inspire and motivate teams to achieve their potential while delivering operational results.
- Partner with HR and senior leadership on employee engagement, talent development, and workforce planning.
- Identify network capability needs, critical talent pipelines, and future skill requirements.
- Develop future leaders through mentorship, coaching, and structured development programs, and ensure robust succession plans are in place.
